So while in that little town of Chagrin Falls, my boyfriend and I decided to stay in the little inn for one night. Turned out to be a good decision because we were hit with a massive snow storm that night. Driving in our sickened conditions would have been a bad call.
We woke up Sunday morning to partake in the continental breakfast.
It was like stepping back in time. To a place where couples sat down together and talked over their English muffins and coffee. I cannot tell you how much I loved sitting in that little breakfast room next to my wonderful boyfriend, sharing the paper, and talking about this and that.
When did couples stop doing this? When iPhones and tablets took the place of newspapers? Perhaps when a protein bar and a travel mug of black coffee started to be considered a sufficient breakfast?
Better yet, why did people stop doing this? Did we all the sudden become too busy for each other? Did we just stop talking and start texting?
I want to defend the breakfast conversations. After all, it is one of the best times to reconnect with people, especially spouses or significant others.
The first meal of the day is the best time to recconect with the person you are spending the rest of your day with. And I firmly believe that it is good for the soul. When we take that time at the very beginning of our day to connect with the most significant person in our life, it starts our whole day out on a better note.
Intimacy is not always physical, a lot of it is an emotional connect to the person. And we will never be able to develop that deep connection unless we stop and take the time to communicate with our loved ones.
So tomorrow, or even sometime this week. Sit down at the breakfast table and just eat and talk with your spouse or significant other. It works wonders, trust me.
